Always reliable, great selection

I've ordered from Big Hammer Wines several times now, and they're consistently good. This last order, a case of California Pinot Noir, arrived perfectly packed just like before. Delivery took about 6 days to get to me in Florida. Their 90+ point wines always deliver on taste. It's why I keep coming back.

Good value on first order

This was my first time buying from Big Hammer Wines. I was looking for a good deal on some Bordeaux Red Blends. Found a nice mixed case, and the first-order discount definitely made it worth it. Shipping was free for the case, which helped with the overall cost. Felt like I got good value for what I paid.

Amazing finds, will reorder

Seriously impressed with Big Hammer Wines! I grabbed a few bottles of their low sulfite wines and a surprise Zinfandel, and they were all fantastic. The Zinfandel was a real standout. Everything arrived super fast and perfectly chilled. Definitely shopping here again!

Detailed wine order review

I decided to try Big Hammer Wines after seeing some positive comments online. I placed an order for a mixed case, including some Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and a couple of bottles of Spanish Tempranillo. The ordering process was straightforward; the website clearly laid out the pricing and shipping options. I received an order confirmation almost immediately, and a shipping notification with tracking within two days. The package arrived in excellent condition after 5 business days, well-packed to prevent breakage. I appreciated the adult signature requirement for delivery, ensuring the wine wasn't just left on the porch. The wines themselves were exactly as described on the site, and the 90+ point rating on the Cabernet definitely seemed accurate. I had a quick question about storage recommendations, and their customer support responded to my email within a few hours. Overall, a very professional and satisfying experience from start to finish. I'll likely explore their En Primeur Bordeaux options next.

Solid experience, minor hiccup

I ordered a few bottles of Italian Sangiovese and a French Champagne for a special occasion. The selection was good, and the website was easy to navigate. Shipping took about a week, which was reasonable. One of the Sangiovese bottles arrived with a slightly damaged label, not a huge deal since the wine was fine, but it stood out. Customer service was responsive when I emailed about it, offering a small credit for a future order. Overall, a positive experience and good quality wine for the price.

Does anyone know if they actually require a signature for delivery? I won't be home during the day.

L Laura 1 month ago
Yeah, they do. It's alcohol so an adult has to sign for it. You can usually get it rerouted to a pickup spot though.

Yep, 21+ signature needed. Had to get my neighbor to sign for a case once.

Are their 90+ rated wines actually good? Or is that just marketing fluff?

B Brett Whitfield 1 month ago
I've been happy with everything I've gotten from them that was 90+. They seem to use legit ratings, like from Wine Spectator or Decanter.

For the price, the 90+ stuff is usually a solid bet. I've found some killer deals on really good wine that way.

I'm looking at a few different bottles, some of them say 'futures'. What does that even mean?

S Sophie Osei 2 months ago
Futures means you're buying wine that's still in the barrel, basically. You pay now, and they ship it to you when it's ready, usually a year or two later. It's common for high-end Bordeaux.

It's like pre-ordering. You get it at a better price sometimes, but you have to wait a while for it to actually be bottled and delivered.

Hey, thinking about ordering some wine for a party next month. How long does shipping usually take, like to California?

C Carly Walsh 1 month ago
Mine usually takes about a week, maybe a little less if it's not a holiday. I'm in NorCal.

For me, it was pretty fast, like 4-5 days. They ship pretty quick once the order goes through.

If I get a corked bottle, what's their return policy like? Is it a hassle?

D David Torres 2 months ago
They're usually pretty good about corked bottles. Just contact them, they'll sort you out. I had one and they replaced it without issue.

I've never had a corked one from them, but I've heard they're fair if it happens. Most reputable wine places are.
